Address Of The President To The Nation

"But much of the intelligence turned out to be wrong. And as your President, I am responsible for the decision to go into Iraq. Yet it was right to remove Saddam Hussein from power." -- President George W. Bush

Translation:
I lied about Saddam. I just wanted to get rid of him. I always did. The 9/11 attacks carried out by those nineteen hijackers - fifteen of whom were Saudi - put a real scare into all you chumps*. Boy, I wish I had seen that coming! Because all you slap-happy jokers* felt so violated and afraid for your safety you supported my plan to send a few troops and drop some bombs to destroy terrorist training camps in Afghanistan. So, that went pretty well, I think, even though we never did catch what's-his-name. Anyway, I got bored with that pretty fast so I took advantage of the trust all you rubes* placed in me, got our troops ready, added a little bit of shock and awe, and soon I removed Saddam from power and gained control of Iraq's oil fields. Thing is, I guess I forgot to plan for the rest of the invasion - oopsie daisy! Still, I was right.

*The American public

Update 12/19/2005 9:07 PM: Additional Translation: Just to be extra clear, by "decision" I mean, of course, that my mind was made up all along.

watching & waiting

TWU Local 100 blogspot

I don't know all the ins and out of the contract standoff but I am still bitter about the MTA's cooking the books and the fare hike so I am standing with Roger Toussaint, TWU Local 100 President. Plus my train sucks. Fix it already!

And I'm not rooting for a strike because I want to have a four day week. I have to go to Manhattan no matter what.

(I will not blog about work. I will not blog about work. I will not blog...)

Squeeze Me Singularity

This post will illustrate the exciting new theory which I will call Pattonoramic Space Time.

The Theory states that any memory I have of a band that I used to listen to in college that has a trajectory towards the Mike Patton Event Horizon will accelerate forward in time stretching out into infinity without actually reaching the present and then be spat out on the 'other side' which is actually the same as the starting point -- music that I used to listen to in college. Also, the dynamics seem to shift from quite hard to quite smooth and soft - a pleasant side-effect of Mike Patton worm-hole spelunking. With that in mind, consider the following;

1. I was just thinking (or willing myself not to?) about
Helmet (circa 1992) yesterday right?

2. The drummer for Helmet,
John Stanier joined an outfit called Tomahawk fronted by Mike Patton [accelerating towards the event horizon] which puts out albums in 2001 and 2003 (which I will check out after this post).

3. [
event horizon] Mike Patton sings with Jennifer Charles of Elyisian Fields on Lovage's Music to Make Love to Your Old Lady By (again, something I intend to check out).

4. [approaching present time] I go see
Elyisian Fields play at Tonic on 4/29/2004 because I enjoyed the 1998 album 'Luckiest Boy in the World'* by Oren Bloedow, of Elyisian Fields, so much it hurt me.

5. [rapidly spitting out the 'other side' towards music I listened to in college] I see Delores open for Fishbone (I think) and they rocked so I buy the
cd comp disc on sale at the concert and I am introduced to Oren Bloedow's music. We are now back 1992. Amazing.

Some other might call this the 'Six-Degrees-Of-somesuch' but I know better.

*I link to this mainly because it calls 'Luckiest Boy in the World' One of the finest musical recordings to come out in the 1990s. Good enough for me. I have not read it otherwise. Perhaps I will later.

I reckon this place is dead... knot!

So, I haven't figured out to make statcounter ignore what I assume are webcawlers/bots visiting for zero seconds. In the meantime (oohh, that reminds me of Helmet... gah!, it's like my brain is constantly playing a game of Make-A-Match and it's all music from 6-12 yrs ago. Ok, I'll stop.) just disregard the statcounter. I'm still learning* this stuff as I go.

So, except for me, this place is pretty much a ghost ship, which is Ok as I am still getting my sea legs (wet behind the ears, etc.). 'Tis a lonley life.**

Ho! What's this on the horizon? A ship adrift? Why it's none other than our doppelganger, a dreadnought by the name of
My Cat Hates Me Aye. It chills me to the bone to see her like this. bbrrrr.

Shh. Listen. I think I hear a kitty in galley. Fetch her the fanciest feast ye can find.

*randomly pushing buttons and crossing my fingers.

**I know,
Talk like A Pirate Day is like 10 months from now. And I've still got a pumpkin on my stoop. What are ya goin' to do about it?? Arr.

true or false

Great. I just get done thanking wikipedia.org for being neato and now everyone's shooting spitballs at it and calling it retarded.

Thanks everybody. Thanks a lot. Thanks for the memo.
